New PC? De-crapify it!
If you've recently purchased a new computer, and are frustrated with all the bundled software (often referred to as "Crapware"), you may want to check out the PC De-Crapifier (yes, that's really it's name). The idea here is that it's almost always the same unwanted software that comes bundled on new machines. The application started off life as the "Dell De-Crapifier", but recently switched to the more generic name as it became apparent that it could be useful for any brand of computer that comes with preinstalled software. It sure would be nice if computer manufacturers would figure out that we don't want all this cruddy software installed on our new machines before we have a chance to gunk them up with our own software!

Especially now that companies like HP are choosing NOT to ship original OS install disks (Bastards...)

I'm not justifying the crap-pushers, but remember that part of the reason your new computer was so inexpensive is that the cost is subsidized by this software. You can certainly buy new computers without all this junk, but they do cost more.

Well, that's how they get their prices down, isn't it? They tell a bunch of people that they'll include their software and it subsidizes the cost of the compy.
Or at least that's what I thought was the reason.

Or you could buy a Mac, which only comes with one piece of crapware (guess!)

Just build your own computer, and you don't have to worry about that nonsense.

Better yet, just build your own computer. It's more cost effective, and you know exactly what you get.

Build your own pc. Companies say the software subsidizes the cost of the computer, but I've found that building your own PC is much cheaper than any pre-built one. The crapware they give you is there so that they can get money from it. I built my pc for $700 and no pre-built $700 pc is as nice in looks, specs, or stability.
